The vision at The Barn is to provide a safe, positive, and encouraging place for youth to hang out on the weekends. Our mission is to fulfill this by Planting Seeds and Trusting God. Devotion time plays a very integral part in what we do. We believe that the best way to provide a safe and positive place is by planting seeds of the Gospel of Christ Jesus and allowing God to work in the hearts of people to change them from the inside out. This brings out the best in people and provides unity among peers.
Devotions is a time that we set aside each night we are open to focus on God and his word. It is simply a time set apart for the purpose of connecting with God and learning more about him together. It's time we "devote" to God, hence the name "devotions." We connect to God by reading the Bible, praying, and having conversations with others who follow him. Devotions is not a time to make people feel uncomfortable, but rather to encourage and help us think about positive things. Above all it is a time to help us understand how God loves us and how he thinks we are special. Devotions are usually at 9:30 on a normal high school night, 9:00 on a junior high night and usually doesn't last longer than 15 minutes. We always like to allow time afterwards for conversation with each other about what is happening in life. |
